Victoria Police release image after $2,100 thefts from Box Hill board game store
Victoria Police have released an image and CCTV footage in a renewed appeal for information after a series of thefts from a board game store in Melbourne’s Box Hill. Officers say about $2,100 worth of merchandise was stolen from Good Games Box Hill across four visits between January 28 and February 10.
According to police, the same man targeted the store on each occasion, taking items linked to fandoms including Jurassic Park, the Avengers, Godzilla and Dungeons & Dragons. The haul also included trading card deck boxes, anime statues, figurines and board games.
Senior Constable Paul Hogan said CCTV captured the man browsing before placing items in his jumper and leaving without attempting to pay. The man showed “a fondness for figurines, trading cards and board games,” he said, adding investigators had “no plans to allow him to pass go nor collect $200.” Police said they are working to determine the man’s identity.
He is described as Asian in appearance, aged in his 20s or possibly late teens, with black, shoulder-length hair. Anyone with information has been urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 330 000.
