Two men injured in Greenvale home invasion; police say attack not believed targeted at this stage
Two men are in hospital after a violent home invasion in Melbourne’s north late Friday that left both with significant but non-life-threatening lacerations, according to Victoria Police. Police said three or four males wearing masks and dark clothing forced their way into a property on Stirling Close in Greenvale just before midnight.
The offenders, described as being in their late teens or early 20s, fled the scene in a dark-coloured SUV. Senior Constable Mitch Jones said that at this stage investigators do not believe the incident was targeted. He described the injuries to the occupants, aged 48 and 35, as significant and quite traumatic.
He said both men, who remain in hospital, were shaken but in good spirits when he spoke with them. Detectives have not recovered any weapons used in the attack and are continuing to investigate. Anyone with information has been urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
