Tiger Woods’ private jet reported in Zurich as golfer says he will seek treatment after Florida arrest
Tiger Woods’ private jet was reported landing in Zurich, Switzerland, as the 50-year-old golfer signaled he will seek treatment following a crash and arrest in Florida on March 27. It has not been confirmed he was on board the aircraft. Zurich is home to several high-end treatment clinics, and reports noted the city’s facilities that offer intensive, one-client programs.
Authorities said the incident in Florida involved two vehicles and occurred as Woods attempted to pass a truck hauling a trailer on a narrow road. His SUV flipped onto its side, and he crawled out through a window, according to officials. Investigators said he exhibited “severe” signs of impairment.
He passed a breathalyzer test, and authorities alleged he had two loose hydrocodone pills in his pocket. When asked about medications, the 15-time major champion replied, “I take a few.” After his arrest, Woods posted $1,150 bail and was photographed leaving jail.
In a statement posted on Instagram, Woods said he would step away “for a period of time to seek treatment and focus on my health. This is necessary in order for me to prioritize my well-being and work toward lasting recovery.” He added, “I’m committed to taking the time needed to return in a healthier, stronger, and more focused place, both personally and professionally,” and asked for privacy for his family and himself.
Woods received public support from his girlfriend, Vanessa Trump, who shared a photo of them together on social media with the caption, “Love you.” A source close to the situation said she wants him to pursue a doctor-supervised program with counselors, describing the issue as pain management “gone awry,” and said her expectations were non-negotiable.
Body-camera footage from the aftermath of the crash showed Woods telling officers he was “just talking to the president” and “trying to get away from everybody” when asked to remain nearby. After learning Woods was heading for treatment, Trump told reporters: “It’s a good thing that he’s doing, but he’s going to end up being terrific.
He’s a great guy. He’s one of the greatest people I’ve known. He’s a great champion… he’ll be fine. He’s going to be terrific.”
