Tiger Woods' private jet lands in Zurich after judge approves out-of-country treatment request

Tiger Woods' private jet landed in Zurich, Switzerland, on Friday, April 3, according to multiple reports, days after a Florida judge approved his request to seek treatment outside the United States following his recent arrest for a DUI in Florida. It is unclear if Woods was on the plane that arrived in Zurich.

Court records show his request to seek out-of-country treatment was approved on April 1. Woods, 50, was arrested on March 27 by Martin County Sheriff's deputies on Jupiter Island in Florida after rolling his vehicle in a two-car crash. He was later released on $1,150 bail.

Deputies said he was not under the influence of alcohol, but law enforcement at the scene determined he was impaired at the time of the crash. An affidavit stated Woods was "sweating profusely" and his pupils were "extremely dilated," and that he had to be reminded multiple times to follow directions during an impairment test.

Two hydrocodone pills were found in his pants pockets. Hydrocodone is a prescribed opioid painkiller. Woods filed a not-guilty plea on March 31 through attorney Douglas Duncan, who also represented him in his 2017 DUI arrest in Palm Beach County. Martin County Judge Darren Steele approved Woods' request for out-of-country treatment options.

In the motion, Duncan wrote: "Based upon the Defendant's treating physician, the out of country treatment facility recommendation is based upon the Defendant's complex clinical presentation and the urgent need for a level of care that cannot safely or effectively be done within the United States, as his privacy has been repeatedly compromised." He added: "Ongoing medical scrutiny and public exposure create significant barriers to his care and would result in setbacks and an inability to fully engage in treatment." It is Woods' second car crash since 2021 in which his vehicle rolled over, and the second time he has been arrested on a DUI charge since 2017.

The landing in Zurich signals a possible location for treatment, according to multiple reports.
