'The Full Monty' revival anchors Roundabout's 2026–27 Broadway season under Christopher Ashley
A Broadway revival of the hit 2000 musical The Full Monty will headline Roundabout Theatre Company’s 2026–2027 season, the nonprofit announced, marking the first lineup under incoming artistic director Christopher Ashley. Leigh Silverman is set to direct the production, with choreographer Connor Gallagher attached and casting to be announced.
Roundabout unveiled three Broadway and three Off Broadway productions for the 2026–2027 slate, describing a mix of two world premieres, three revivals and two musicals. The season features projects with Bill Irwin, Ruben Santiago-Hudson and Kara Young, though most casting remains unannounced.
Ashley, who assumes leadership from Scott Ellis in July, said the season aims to place “the classic and the urgent side by side,” pairing new work with a return to a landmark comedy and a large-scale musical. On Broadway, the season begins with The Imaginary Invalid in fall 2026 at the Todd Haimes Theatre.
Adapted from Molière by Bill Irwin—and starring Irwin under the direction of Brandon J. Dirden—the production is billed as a comedy about a consummate hypochondriac scheming to marry off his daughter to a doctor to save on medical bills, only to find she has other plans.
Dominique Morisseau’s Mix and Master will premiere in winter 2027 at the Todd Haimes Theatre, directed by Kamilah Forbes and starring Tony Award-winner Ruben Santiago-Hudson and two-time consecutive Tony Award-winner Kara Young. Set in the last record shop in the Bronx, the play centers on a rising DJ’s fight to keep the music alive.
As vinyl spins and tensions rise, a generational clash over legacy and survival unfolds, with DJ sets woven throughout. The Full Monty returns in spring 2027 at the Todd Haimes Theatre, with a book by Terrence McNally and music and lyrics by David Yazbek. Based on the 1997 film and first adapted for Broadway in 2000, the modern musical comedy follows six men who decide to put everything on the line by taking it all off.
Off Broadway, Roundabout will present The Heart in fall 2026 at the Laura Pels Theatre in the Harold & Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre. The musical features a book and additional lyrics by Kait Kerrigan, music and lyrics by Anne Eisendrath and Ian Eisendrath, choreography by Mandy Moore, and direction by Christopher Ashley.
The story spans a pivotal 24 hours after a young surfer’s life is cut short and a stranger gets a second chance, linking two families and a medical team through a single beating heart. Roundabout said additional information—including specific dates, casting, creative teams and single-ticket on-sale timelines—will be announced at a later date.
