Tarah Hogue to join Remai Modern as inaugural Indigenous art curator in October 2020
Tarah Hogue will join Remai Modern as its inaugural Indigenous art curator in October 2020, marking the creation of a new role at the institution. Hogue is a citizen of the Métis Nation of Alberta. Her appointment adds a dedicated curatorial focus on Indigenous art at the museum.
“We all need to be included in getting work in there,” a local artist said, calling for inclusive opportunities as the museum develops its programs and exhibitions. Saskatoon artist Kevin L. Pee-Ace describes his current style as a modern fusion of traditional and contemporary approaches, featuring floral motifs reminiscent of beadwork.
The museum is scheduled to open its doors to the public on August 13, setting a timeline that precedes Hogue’s arrival later in the fall.
