‘Raja Shivaji’ trailer unveiled in Mumbai; Riteish Deshmukh sets 1 May 2026 theatrical release

Riteish Deshmukh has unveiled the trailer for his directorial venture Raja Shivaji at a launch event in Mumbai, joined by Abhishek Bachchan, Vidya Balan, Genelia Deshmukh and Sanjay Dutt. Deshmukh, who also stars in the film, later shared the trailer on social media.
In his post, Deshmukh described the project as an “immortal heroic story of wit, power and devotion” and referred to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj as the “Founder of Hindavi Swarajya”. He said the film is based on the life of Shivaji Maharaj and announced a theatrical release on 1 May 2026 in Marathi, Hindi and Telugu.
The trailer showcases large-scale action, romance and drama, set to music by composer duo Ajay–Atul. Alongside Deshmukh, the cast features Vidya Balan, Abhishek Bachchan and Genelia Deshmukh, with Sanjay Dutt appearing as an antagonist—a role he has portrayed before, including in Panipat.
Early reactions on social media were broadly positive, with users calling the trailer “number one” and saying it gave them “goosebumps”. Others wished the team success, invoking blessings of Mother Tulja Bhavani and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Raja Shivaji is scheduled to open in cinemas on 1 May 2026 and will be released in Marathi, Hindi and Telugu.
