Qatar Press Centre condemns what it calls ongoing Iranian attacks; MoD: drones, two cruise missiles intercepted

The Qatar Press Centre has condemned what it described as ongoing Iranian attacks against the State of Qatar, calling them a dangerous escalation, a blatant violation of international laws and norms, and an unacceptable infringement on national sovereignty and security.
In a statement issued yesterday, the Centre referred to an announcement by the Ministry of Defence confirming that Qatar was targeted earlier in the day by an attack involving a number of drones and two cruise missiles. According to that announcement, the Qatari Armed Forces intercepted and neutralised the attack with high efficiency.
The Centre said such repeated and unjustified acts constitute a serious breach of Qatar’s sovereignty and a direct threat to its territorial integrity and national security. It warned that the escalation poses significant risks to regional and international peace and stability, potentially leading to grave consequences for the wider region.
The Centre praised the high level of readiness and vigilance demonstrated by the armed forces, commending their professionalism, courage and dedication in carrying out their national duty to safeguard the country and protect its resources.
It also expressed appreciation for the Ministry of Interior’s efforts to maintain security and stability, including its firm response to rumours and misinformation and its role in preserving public awareness and reinforcing reassurance within society.
Concluding its statement, the Centre underscored the critical role of responsible and professional media as a first line of defence in protecting the home front, strengthening trust in national institutions and raising public awareness in the face of challenges, thereby supporting unity and social cohesion.
