Qatar Media Corporation announces QBC, first dedicated economic TV channel; tests start 5 May 2026

Qatar Media Corporation has announced the launch of QBC, the country’s first dedicated economic television channel, a move that adds a new specialty outlet to Qatar’s media landscape. The channel will broadcast in 4K and be supported by integrated digital platforms, providing coverage of economic developments in Qatar, the Gulf region and global markets.
Sheikh Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al‑Thani, Chief Executive Officer of Qatar Media Corporation, said the launch reflects Qatar’s ambition to support the national economy and showcase achievements across key sectors. He described investment in specialised media as a cornerstone of sustainable development and framed QBC as a strategic step in expanding the Corporation’s portfolio of targeted channels.
Acting Director of QBC, Issa Abdullah Al‑Hetmi, said test transmissions will begin on 5 May 2026 at 9:00am. He said the channel will offer specialised economic programmes and news bulletins, delivering real‑time reports and detailed analysis across sectors including energy, finance, technology, stock markets and real estate.
Al‑Hetmi added that QBC has assembled a specialised team, built a network of correspondents in leading global financial centres and secured partnerships with international economic agencies to provide accurate, timely market updates. Qatar Media Corporation reaffirmed its commitment to developing specialised media platforms aligned with national priorities and future economic needs as it prepares QBC for its test phase.
