Qatar denies talks with Iran on paying funds to halt attacks on Qatar, spokesman says
DOHA, April 14 — Qatar has held no discussions with Iran over the payment of funds to stop Iranian attacks on Qatar, and any suggestions that such talks occurred are untrue, the foreign ministry’s spokesperson said on Tuesday. “There is a high level of coordination with Pakistan and the United States, our demands are being raised through these channels,” Majed Al-Ansari told a media briefing.
The remarks come amid heightened regional tensions. On March 1, smoke was seen from Doha after reported Iranian missile attacks, following United States and Israel strikes on Iran. Al-Ansari reiterated that Doha is pressing its demands through coordination with Pakistan and the United States and dismissed claims of payment discussions with Tehran as unfounded.
