Police search for teens filmed riding on roof of Sydney bus in dangerous stunt
NSW Police are searching for two teenagers caught on video riding on the roof of a Sydney bus, a dangerous and illegal stunt known as “bus surfing”. Footage shows the pair lying on top of the 356 service travelling from Eastgardens to Bondi Junction at about 11:40 am on Sunday.
The teens reportedly got off when the driver stopped at Queens Park. A police spokesman said officers later located the bus at Bondi Junction, but the boys had already fled. Transport NSW co-ordinator general Howard Collins warned the stunt could have life-changing consequences, particularly if a bus passes under a bridge or near exposed power lines.
“There’s nothing harmless about this type of behaviour. It endangers lives and disrupts the safety of our transport network,” he said. “Too often, it’s young people getting caught up in this, and they’re putting themselves and others at serious risk. This could be the last decision you ever make.” Collins said Transport NSW were working with police on the investigation.
Anyone with dashcam footage or information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
