Police investigate three late-night drive-by shootings in Sydney’s southwest

Three homes were targeted in drive-by shootings across Sydney’s southwest late Friday night, prompting NSW Police to establish crime scenes and open an investigation. Emergency services were called about 10.45pm on Friday, 24 April 2026, after shots were fired at a house on Clarence Street, Merrylands.
A short time later, police received reports of gunfire at a home on Lockwood Street, also in Merrylands. Around 11pm, officers were called to a third address on Monash Street, Wentworthville, following reports of another shooting. No injuries were reported at any of the locations.
Detectives from Cumberland Police Area Command and State Crime Command’s Taskforce Falcon have taken carriage of the investigation. Initial inquiries indicate an unknown vehicle was seen outside each home before occupants allegedly fired several rounds into the properties.
As inquiries continue, detectives are seeking to speak with the driver of a white Hyundai sedan that was seen driving away from the Wentworthville home around the time of the shooting. Police urged anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers, saying information is managed on a confidential basis, and reminded the public not to report information via NSW Police social media pages.
