New in Australian cinemas from 30 April: Wolfram, The Devil Wears Prada 2 and more

Australian cinemas are rolling out a diverse slate from 30 April, spanning a stark outback drama, a high-fashion sequel, an Irish-set horror, an Australian countryside siege thriller and a new music documentary on Jeff Buckley. Leading the week is Wolfram, set on the colonial frontier in 1930s Australia.
After two swaggering outlaws descend on a mining town and unleash a wave of cruelty, three children break free from their white masters and journey across the “sweet country” of central Australia in search of safety. Set in the same universe as Warwick Thornton’s multi award-winning Sweet Country (2017), the film features standout performances from Deborah Mailman and its young cast.
Nearly twenty years after their iconic turns as Miranda, Andy, Emily and Nigel, Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci return to the fashionable streets of New York and the sleek offices of Runway Magazine in The Devil Wears Prada 2, a sequel to the 2006 box-office phenomenon.
Hokum follows novelist Ohm Bauman to a remote inn where he plans to scatter his parents’ ashes. Consumed by tales of a witch haunting the honeymoon suite, he is drawn into disturbing visions, and a shocking disappearance forces him to confront dark corners of his past.
In Seven Snipers, a retired elite sniper (Radha Mitchell) lives quietly with her daughter (Annabel Wolfe) in the remote Australian countryside. Their peace shatters when a ruthless warlord (Tim Roth) from her past seeks retribution. She calls in her old crew and prepares to defend her family.
It’s Never Over, Jeff Buckley offers a fresh look at one of music’s most enigmatic figures. From executive producer Bill Simmons and director Amy Berg, the documentary explores Buckley’s life, the voice that could “stop time,” and a brief career that left an outsized legacy.
