Nationwide night crackdown yields 170 fines; one arrest and 400 vehicles stopped, police say

A nationwide night-time crackdown across urban areas resulted in 170 fines, police said on Friday, after officers mounted coordinated patrols aimed at preventing serious crime and reinforcing public safety. The operation focused on key locations to deter criminal activity and maintain public order.

One person was arrested for illegal possession of property and traffic offences. During the sweep, police stopped 400 vehicles and checked 542 drivers and passengers. Officers also carried out 25 inspections of premises, recording four complaints over breaches of operating permits.

Of the 170 traffic violations, 51 were for speeding. Police conducted 146 alcohol tests, while two people tested positive in preliminary drug checks, according to the statement. Police said such operations continue daily with increased presence and targeted checks.

Authorities aim to prevent crime, improve road safety and strengthen the public’s sense of security.
