Man United plot summer reset as Iraola set to leave Bournemouth and Casemiro heads for exit

Manchester United are bracing for a significant summer reset, with changes expected on the touchline and across the squad. Andoni Iraola is leaving Bournemouth at the end of this season, a development that could influence United’s search for a new head coach if it is not Michael Carrick.
Midfielder Casemiro is set to be the first major departure before the campaign is out, with goalkeeper Altay Bayindir potentially following. Recruitment is expected to focus on midfield, with at least one addition targeted. United have been credited with interest in Adam Wharton and Elliot Anderson among others as the club reshapes the dressing room under fresh leadership.
The financial stakes around that rebuild were outlined by football finance expert Kieran Maguire, who said United could save close to £1 million a week on wages if several expected exits go through. He noted that removing the salaries of Casemiro and Marcus Rashford from the payroll, a potential permanent deal if Hojlund’s loan were to be converted, and one or two sales could give United “huge flexibility” in the market.
Maguire added that, if rumours about prospective targets such as Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha being on lower wages are accurate, it would further ease the budget for 2026/27, particularly if United qualify for the Champions League.
Elsewhere, Eintracht Frankfurt’s Nathaniel Brown addressed links with United and Manchester City, telling SportsBild he is aware of speculation but remains focused on his immediate goals and is not being influenced by rumours. On the pitch, former United defender Wes Brown praised the team’s second-half display with 10 men in Monday’s defeat to Leeds.
Speaking on Inside Carrington, he argued the dismissal that shaped the match “was not a red card” in his view and said United were excellent after the interval, adding they should at least have drawn the game. In managerial news beyond England, Luis Enrique — previously linked with United — is reportedly close to agreeing a new deal at Paris Saint‑Germain.
According to The Telegraph, talks have progressed positively, Enrique wants to stay, and an extension to 2029 with an option for a further 12 months is on the table. His current contract runs until June 2027, with both parties said to be keen to finalise his future.
