Liverpool monitor Tottenham’s Luka Vuskovic amid rival interest from Bayern, Man Utd and Chelsea
Liverpool have joined a group of major clubs monitoring Tottenham Hotspur youngster Luka Vuskovic ahead of the summer transfer window, according to Football Insider, setting up a potential battle with Bayern Munich, Manchester United and Chelsea for the highly rated centre-back.
Vuskovic, 19, signed for Spurs in the summer of 2025 for around £12m and was immediately loaned to Hamburger SV to secure regular first-team minutes. He has impressed in Germany, scoring five goals in 26 appearances and delivering a standout performance in a 2-2 draw against Bayern Munich.
While several pundits have urged Bayern to move for the Croatian, the German club’s sporting director, Claus Costa, has said the defender is expected to return to Tottenham at the end of the season. Liverpool’s interest forms part of a wider defensive refresh.
Jeremy Jacquet is due to arrive from Rennes, while Giovanni Leoni is set to rejoin pre-season after missing most of the campaign with an ACL injury. The club could receive a further boost if Ibrahima Konate commits his future, with a new contract reportedly expected in the coming weeks.
Even so, with Joe Gomez likely to leave and Virgil van Dijk in the latter stages of his career, another central defender remains under consideration. The Reds have been strongly linked with Alessandro Bastoni, and Vuskovic is now understood to be another option.
Any pursuit may hinge less on competition from Bayern, United and Chelsea and more on Tottenham’s stance. Spurs are described as rating Vuskovic highly and viewing him as central to their long-term plans, regardless of which division they play in next season. Tottenham currently sit 17th in the Premier League with 37 points from 35 matches and remain in a tense fight to avoid relegation.
For now, Vuskovic is expected to report back to Spurs after his loan, with interested clubs monitoring the situation as the summer window approaches.
