Kuwait revokes citizenship of 2,182 people under three decrees, including dependents

Kuwait City, Apr 13 — Kuwait has revoked the citizenship of 2,182 people under three decrees published in the official gazette Kuwait Alyoum, a move that also strips nationality from dependents who obtained it through the primary beneficiaries. The decrees — Nos.
22, 23 and 24 of 2026 — set out the scope of the action: Decree No. 22 withdraws citizenship from two individuals, Decree No. 23 affects 1,104 people, and Decree No. 24 targets 1,076 individuals. In each case, citizenship is also withdrawn from dependents who acquired it through the principal holders.
Authorities said the action forms part of ongoing efforts to review and regulate nationality status in line with updated legal provisions governing citizenship.
