India retain No.1 in ICC men’s T20I rankings with 275 points
India have retained the top spot in the latest ICC men’s T20I team rankings, consolidating their position at No.1 after their 2026 T20 World Cup title. According to the ICC, the Suryakumar Yadav-led side sits on 275 rating points, maintaining a clear lead despite a marginal reduction in their advantage over England.
England remain second on 262 points, with Australia close behind in third on 258. The update gives full weight to all matches played since May 2025, while results from the preceding two years carry a 50 percent weighting. India’s ranking reflects sustained success in the format.
The team has dominated over the past two years, winning back-to-back T20 World Cups in 2024 and 2026 and staying unbeaten in bilateral T20I series during this period. The rest of the top seven is unchanged: New Zealand are fourth on 247 points, followed by South Africa (244), Pakistan (240) and the West Indies (233).
Bangladesh have climbed to eighth with 225 points, overtaking Sri Lanka, which slipped to ninth after a six-point drop. Afghanistan are 10th on 220. Among the emerging sides, the United States moved up two places to 13th after a six-point gain, edging ahead of the Netherlands and Scotland.
Italy registered one of the largest jumps, rising three spots to 23rd after an impressive T20 World Cup debut that included a 10-wicket win over Nepal. At the lower end, Nepal and Oman each rose one position, while the United Arab Emirates and Canada fell. The rankings now list 98 teams, down from 102, after Fiji, Gambia, Greece and Israel were removed for not meeting the minimum requirement of eight T20Is in the past three years.
