How to vote in Cambridgeshire’s 2026 local elections: dates, ID and polling stations

Cambridgeshire heads to the polls on Thursday, May 7, with local elections taking place for Cambridge City Council, South Cambridgeshire Council, Huntingdonshire District Council and Peterborough City Council. There are no elections this year for Fenland District Council or East Cambridgeshire District Council; those will be held in 2027.
Polling stations open at 7am and close at 10pm on Thursday. Voters must present a form of photographic ID at their polling station. Accepted ID includes a UK passport and driving licence. Other valid forms are listed on polling cards and on the relevant council’s website.
Your polling station details appear on your polling card, if you have one, and can also be found on the appropriate council website. It is essential to take photographic ID, but you do not need to bring your polling card. Some voters may have taken part in an early voting trial scheme ahead of May 7, while others may have cast a postal vote.
Counting will take place on Friday, May 8. Results for each council are expected to be published on their websites throughout the day as they are confirmed.
