Hardeep Puri heads to Qatar to secure LNG, LPG supplies amid fuel crisis

Hardeep Puri is heading to Qatar to secure additional liquefied natural gas (LNG) and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for India amid a fuel crisis, underscoring New Delhi’s push to stabilise supplies. Qatar is India’s single-largest supplier of both LNG and LPG, providing 45 per cent and 20 per cent respectively.

That reliance makes the Gulf state central to India’s near-term energy planning as domestic markets face pressure. Puri is expected to ask Qatar to speed up supply and to prioritise India in LNG, seeking to firm up deliveries at a critical moment for the country’s fuel availability.

The outreach focuses on maintaining timely shipments from a key partner as India navigates tight supply conditions at home.
