Hanover Theatre unveils 2026–27 lineup after 'record-breaking' subscriber year

Worcester — After what it says has been “a record-breaking year for the number of subscribers engaged in 2025–26,” The Hanover Theatre and Conservatory for the Performing Arts has announced a 2026–27 season that expands its Broadway slate and brings back acclaimed dance and repertory offerings.
“We’re really excited about it. It’s such a really big variety of different shows,” Alan Seiffert, president and chief executive officer of The Hanover Theatre, said in an interview Tuesday, March 31. Marking its 18th anniversary since opening in 2008, the theatre will present seven nationally touring productions in its 2026–27 Broadway Series on the main stage, up from five in the current season.
Titles include Monty Python’s Spamalot (Oct. 2–4), Shucked (April 30–May 2, 2027) and The Wiz (May 14–16, 2027). The Dance Series will return for a second season with four renowned companies on the main stage, including the Martha Graham Dance Company on April 24, 2027.
The Hanover Theatre Repertory, launched in 2020, will enter its sixth season with three full productions at the BrickBox Theater, beginning with Romeo + Juliet (Sept. 23–Oct. 10). Seasonal traditions are also on the calendar: The Nutcracker (Nov. 27–29), A Christmas Carol (Dec.
17–23) and THT Rep’s Sixth Annual Poe Double Header (Oct. 28–Nov. 1). The Boston Pops will make its annual Holiday Tour stop on Dec. 4. The current 2025–26 Broadway Series is still underway, with The Music Man (May 15–17) and Mrs. Doubtfire (June 26–28) ahead.
The 2025–26 Dance Series continues with Parsons Dance (April 2) and Dance Theatre of Harlem (May 7). “The Broadway Series has done really well for us,” Seiffert said, adding that audiences have responded to a wide range of offerings.
For 2026–27, “we really doubled down on bringing things people probably haven’t seen before.” He said the Dance Series has been doing “really, really well,” noting, “People don’t have to drive to Boston or drive south to see the world’s greatest dance companies.” The initial response to the newly announced season has been “terrific,” he said.
“From groundbreaking musicals to boundary-pushing dance and theatre, our new season brings together world-renowned artists and thought-provoking stories from wide-ranging cultures and disciplines.” Subscriptions are on sale now for the Broadway, Dance and THT Rep series.
Individual tickets will be on sale later. Highlights of the Broadway lineup include Monty Python’s Spamalot (Oct. 2–4), The Bodyguard (Nov. 6–8), Cirque Alice (Jan. 29–31, 2027), Water for Elephants (Feb. 26–28, 2027), Shucked (April 30–May 2, 2027) and The Wiz (May 14–16, 2027).
