Federal government commits over $10.5M to nine firms in Delta and Richmond

DELTA, B.C., April 17, 2026 — Ottawa is investing more than $10.5 million in nine companies in Delta and Richmond to help them scale up, compete and reach new markets, federal officials said Friday.
The announcement was made at Santevia Water Systems in Delta by the Honourable Jill McKnight, Minister of Veterans Affairs, Associate Minister of National Defence and Member of Parliament for Delta, on behalf of the Honourable Gregor Robertson, Minister of Housing and Infrastructure and Minister responsible for Pacific Economic Development Canada.
Santevia, which designs and manufactures water filtration products, will receive more than $1.8 million. The government said the funding will help the company expand domestic manufacturing, launch new sustainable products, and enter additional international markets, while modernizing its operations and sales infrastructure.
According to officials, the investment is expected to support skilled jobs, help Canadian products reach new customers, and reduce reliance on single-use plastics. Eight other companies are also receiving support, including Richmond Plywood Corporation (Richply), a producer of value-added plywood for construction and industrial uses.
Richply will receive $1 million to modernize its facility — a move the government said will strengthen domestic supply chains, increase the availability of Canadian-made materials, reduce plywood shortages, and support housing and other construction projects across Western Canada.
“Through these investments, Delta and Richmond businesses will strengthen supply chains, boost their productivity, and reach new markets,” Minister Robertson said, adding that backing growth-oriented firms, including those tied to the housing sector, is intended to support jobs and broader economic strength.
McKnight said Delta companies are “ready to grow — here at home and on the world stage,” and that the funding would help local innovators modernize, expand and build stable, long-term careers in the community. Parm Bains, Member of Parliament for Richmond East-Steveston, said the support is aimed at keeping Richmond businesses competitive amid global uncertainty and enabling them to seize new opportunities.
Officials said the investments are intended to help businesses in Delta and Richmond adapt to changing trade conditions, grow locally, diversify exports and bolster regional supply chains. Details on the remaining funding recipients were provided in a government backgrounder.
