A 13-year-old boy has been arrested after officers recovered a machete during a stop in Northfield on Sunday, 3 May. Officers from the Guardian Taskforce stopped the boy on Tays Field Road and recovered the weapon. He was arrested and has been referred to a Youth Offending Team (YOT), where work will begin with the aim of preventing re-offending.
Police said the action was carried out as part of Project Guardian, a specialist taskforce that tackles knife crime and youth violence. The initiative places particular emphasis on reducing knife crime through tactics including plain-clothed operations, high-visibility patrols and positive engagement with young people.
