Australian stars shine at the 2026 Met Gala: Kidman with Sunday Rose, Robbie and Jackman among attendees

Australia’s A-listers delivered standout looks at the 2026 Met Gala, which unfolded at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York on the first Monday of May — the first Tuesday for Australians because of the time difference. The benefit raised millions for the museum’s Costume Institute under this year’s theme, Costume Art, drawing leading names from film, music, sport and business to fashion’s most-watched red carpet.
As is tradition, the guest list stayed tightly held until the last moment. When the arrivals began on the museum’s famous staircase, a wave of familiar Australian faces appeared. Nicole Kidman was among the first to arrive, turning heads in a skin-tight red, sparkling custom Chanel gown by Matthieu Blazy.
By her side, her eldest daughter, Sunday Rose, made a surprise Met debut in a custom pink Dior dress. Margot Robbie continued the Australian showing in a gold strapless Chanel dress. Hugh Jackman was also in attendance, joined by Sutton Foster.
With the spectacle wrapped for another year, the red carpet reaffirmed both the Met Gala’s power to rally support for the Costume Institute and the strong presence of Australian talent on fashion’s biggest stage.
